And that’s just 6 months into perspective. The internet is no more static. It’s isn’t like a vast newspaper with nothing on it but text, images and video. It is a thriving world out there with its own Digital Terrorism to combat.
While attacks on the Internet dis start out as mere pranks, they unlease a wave of terror and can ruin businesses, bankins, Institutions and other organizations with a remarkable simple attack sequences. For instance, a simple Denial of Service Attack is enough to wreak havoc with a company’s computer network.Want to check out which companies host most of these malicious codes, viruses, malware and spyware? Here goes:
1. Uncle Sam is the No.1 Hosting Farm: How could the United States NOT be the numero- uno when it comes to this. The Land of opportunities is certainly an attractive place to “phish” to. American companies and financial institutions are the juicy meat, no hungry mouth can avoid. According to the Sophos Internet Security report 2008, US hosts a whopping 38% of all malware in the world. Just about every 2 pages of 3 are infested with digital vermin.
2. China : This is a surprise entry but hell, now-a-days, nothing surprises me. China happens to be immediately next in line with the United States and host about 31.3% of all malware hosted in the world. China is apparently catching up with the U.S in more ways fahomable and not just trade and commerce, political might and of course economic prosperity?
3. Russia : I’ve heard rumours that the Russian Ruble is going down under. I am no economic guru and I have no clue what is going to happen to the Russian Ruble, but the economy is surely busy on the Internet backbone front, what with a 10.8% of malware being hosted from this country alone.
These three countries make up for over 3/4ths of all digital terrorism and it isn’t like well-known groups are executing this — they might just be “geeks” or other Individuals hell-bent on getting what they want. We all all kinds of things to fight for, don’t we?
I heard someone say that if there is anything worth fighting for, it ought to be really good. I wonder if it still stands true?
